UVG Factions and Random Events

As I said the other day, I'm gearing up for a UVG campaign. I've just finished a write-up of Mausritter-style factions with resources and goals, along with a table of random events. This is inspired by this post on d66 Classless Kobolds :)

RANDOM EVENTS

After faction turns, check for events: 1d20, -1 per faction with no progress. If result < 7, roll one event.

ECOLOGICAL
  1. A colossal wildfire in the Ivory Plain rises to the purple haze and lights the sky on fire.
  2. The Circle Sea floods the Rainbowlands. They’re desperate for livingstone bricks for levies.
  3. A perfect storm of strange radiations and drought cause a food supply chain crisis
  4. An unseasonly thaw (or freeze) opens (or closes) the roads.
  5. An avalanche fracture in the Ribs of the Father leaves swaths of Marmotfolk trapped and wounded.
  6. Fever in the Forest of Meat! Supplies of beast egg masses dry up, caravans stall in inflamed tissue.
  7. The purple haze disappears for 1d4 weeks. Some take this as a sin of the apocalypse, some as the return of the gods — or the V.I.L.E.S!
  8. Purple smog descends on a random location. Trade and travel cease as people seek shelter.

POLITICO-ECONOMICAL
  1. A startup caravan company with crews composed of one member from each Rainbowland dominates the trade routes.
  2. Werepugs led by an ultra establish a militant raft city at the base of the Needle of the World in the Circle Sea. They plan to climb it.
  3. The Emerald City forges a trade alliance with the Lime Nomads, employing them to train new legions of cavalry for northward colonization to the elf lands.
  4. The Great Folk of the Behemoth Shell develop a cultural addiction to the Cat Snip mushrooms of Fallen Umber, which fuel their new mysteriously industrious efforts…
  5. A polybody assimilates one of its fellows, sparking civil war in the Porcelain Citadel.
  6. The Vintner Lords launch a fruitless attack on the Redland District — and reap the carnage for a new blood wine! It’s all the rage - 1,000 cash a sack!
  7. A gang of golem war rigs appears and begins to terrorize caravans, turning the roads into a warzone.
  8. The Refracting Trees generate a colossal hologram dragon, which requires a toll of souls for passage

WEIRD
  1. A fast star city crashes down near a random location.
  2. A 400 foot tall oleaginous kaiju rises from the Winedark Ocean on an eastward path of destruction
  3. The Purple University invents a sap-based VR visor that grants wearers the subjective experience of a tree. It’s a forest MMO. The Emerald City is desperate to get their hands on the prototype.
  4. A glacier of carbon erupts near a random location, disrupting travel. It has a gate-shaped glyph…
  5. An all-white Satrap appears, claiming to be The Last. A cult develops and prepares for a journey to a promised land on a fast star prismatic paradise.
  6. Radiation plague strikes a random location. Triple demand for medicine from the Circle Sea!
  7. A black tidal wave crashes into The Last Camp. Hundreds of oily undead non-survivors march eastward, doing “the wave.” Those asleep when they pass by join in onemantic somnombulance.
  8. The Satrap crystal network goes down. Satraps grow anxious of their sudden mortality as photoelectricians frantically search for the burnt-out crystal in need of replacing.
